As a casual, with a baby coming in end of July I will hopefully be able to play some weekends. With that being said here are my goals!
Not necessarily in right order after first two!
-Make friends
-Have fun
-Hit level 60
-Raid Phase 1+2
(even if it requires me jumping into farming guilds near end of phases "being carried/boosted" since I can't put in the time to be a main raider)
-PvP when it's released
-Herbalism + Alchemy 300
-Rare + Epic mount
-Find at least one world drop epic
Goal is to clear AQ40 and Naxx. My guild in Vanilla had only gotten to C’thun once and only just started Naxx first as TBC was only a couple weeks away before we got to that point. We were a casual raiding guild that didn’t rush our members so we got started raiding late.
I can at most play 20 hours a week and normally only 12 or so hours a week so I hope to:
Reach max level with about 6 days played before phase 2 comes out
Farm out my Epic mount, pre-raid Bis, and around 500 spare gold before phase three comes out
Get to at least PVP rank 10 in order to get the full blue PVP set, but hopefully get to PVP rank 11 so that I can get the PVP mount and title, and get all of the PVP factions to exalted for the rewards before phase five
PUG ZG and AG 20 to get both reputations to exalted for the rewards before phase 6
Join a casual raiding guild to raid ONY / Molten Core / BWL
Farm out my Epic mount, pre-raid Bis, and around 500 spare gold before phase three comes out
Get to at least PVP rank 10 in order to get the full blue PVP set, but hopefully get to PVP rank 11 so that I can get the PVP mount and title, and get all of the PVP factions to exalted for the rewards before phase five
Any specific item/thing for 500g for phase 3 or just a "gold goal" in general?
What title does one get at rank 11?
Thanks!

Commander (Alliance) and Lieutenant General (Horde).

Its so that I can buy the PVP gear right away when I unlock it, bribing the leaders of PUGs for loot, and spare money is always good
Goals... in no particular order
1.) Play new classes that I didn't experience the first time around... I'm thinking hunter and mage. I was a warrior and rogue when I played before.
2.) Make friends, meet new people, etc. etc.... I'm still friends with a few people I played with originally.
3.) PVP... world, battlegrounds, maybe even make a level 19 twink at some point. PVP was my favorite aspect of the game before and I don't see that changing.
4.) Find a casual'ish guild to PVP with and experience end game raid content with... it's more about the people than the progress for me.
I guess the overarching theme will be to just have fun... reconnect with what I loved about this game and gaming in general before it got all F'd up.
Cheers
My friends and I had a twink guild back in Vanilla, so that's probably a higher priority than it should be for us. This time around I'm rolling a 19 druid bear tank twink, as we had a lot of rogues last time. I'm working on what I want to try to do with that character and when, hopefully taking advantage of people leveling and snag a few difficult to get twink items early on.
As far as my main goes, I'm married now and my wife is really excited for classic. I've tried to help her pick a good class for her playstyle, and she'll probably be going rogue. I'm going shaman, which is exciting because I've never leveled a shaman past 30 or so.
As far as gear/endgame stuff goes, I don't have much info since I never got into it back in the day, but I really want to this time! If anyone has any guides/resources I should know about as far as best in slot items or what things to get when to prep for raiding and max level stuff, let me know. I'll be lurking in the guild recruitment areas and that discord for the next two months while I continue planning.
Oh, I'm doing a PvP server this time, never had the guts to go for it up till now.
PvE related
1. On Day 1 zero hour, make a character on a PvP server. (this isn't my main toon. Just my go-to guy to mess around and participate in chaotic PvP).
2. Wait 3 days to 1 week and see which servers the biggest streamers are going to so I can avoid them. While I have nothing against streamers, I want my wow experience to be authentic and not have the server focused on the streamer and their fans.
3. Choose a high-populated well balanced PvE server and make my home. Find a cool guild and take my time leveling my characters that share professions with one another. Goal is to level up all of my characters as a unit while helping guild mates.
4. Kill Onyxia
PvP related
Become the go-to PvP guy on the PvE server and start a lot of fun and chaotic events with the community:
- Raid all of the villages, kill the elite NPC of the village and hold the area for 30 minutes to bring some alliance or horde to try and take it back.
- Organize world PvP with guilds on the opposing faction. So for example compete to see which guild can push the opposing team back and sack the target village. For example: 20 v 20 or 40 v 40 and anyone who wishes to tag along between Stonetalon Peak and Sunrock Retreat. I don't like ganking others and ruining their day. So if people want to PvP and participate that's awesome. Flag on!
- Try to level 1 character with the PvP flag always on.
- Try to pickpocket all faction leaders as a rogue.
- Kill all opposing faction leaders: Horde [Rexxar, Saurfang, Varimathras, Sylvanas, Cairne, Voljin, Thrall] Alliance [Jaina, Bolvar, The Archbishop, King Mekkatorque, King Magni Bronzebeard, Staghelm, Tyrande]
I won't have time to raid, most likely, so my goals revolve around dungeons.
All this I will do while keeping a story diary.

That's a really good idea. As someone who isn't rushing to get to the endgame I might do that. The only concern I have is that one of my goals is to create and keep my main character from Day 1.

Create your main on a handful of potential servers you are looking at, then after a few days you can play the most suitable server.

Hopefully most EU realms will not have this problem since majority of "lol fans" who run around after their idol streamers feels to be NA. I could be wrong though. I intend to make 3 chars on 3 diff realms. Worst case scenario I'll just scout potential streamers since they most def will be streaming at launch.

See, this is why I come to Barrens Chat. You guys have all of the good ideas.

Glad I could help suggest an idea for you. Looking back I'm probably going to rethink my plans a bit since seeing all of the cool Classic montage videos on pvp servers are making me want to roll PVP instrad of a normal server, but we'll see.
- Reach lvl 60
- Get my pre-Raid gear ready
- Level up professions
- Raid
- Grind a shit tone of gold
- Be the richest mf on the server
:D
- level up 4 chars to 60 (efficiently, not speedrunning)
- max profs, get dungeon gear
- enjoy the dungeons content, little bit of pvp and maybe organize mc pugs for suboptimal classes
- wait for classic tbc(or classic+)
- level up 4 chars to 60 (efficiently, not speedrunning)
Why 4? Isnt it more fun to have like one "main" during vanilla to get like all reps, rare patterns etc with?

Except that rare mc pug I don't want to raid at all and will not rank in pvp. But I like to change my playstyle now and then. I am not a hoarder but I like to be self-sufficient.
Without going into specific details, I think my main goal (apart from the obvious "have fun, enjoy the game") is to make a new start. We all begin with nothing: no characters, no gold, no collectibles, only empty servers and our knowledge of the game.
It's like starting a new D&D campaign: the game itself is not entirely new, you know the rules and probably the setting, but it's still building up from scratch.
