Still, it's all practice and it gave me a chance to see if I could stomach a female dwarf :D
How did you like the casting animations? Thinking about rolling a female dwarf as well, they are so rare!
First of all, this thread is awesome and an excellent resource, and it's great to see a community forming around speedrunning. Hopefully this gets popular enough to get its own subforum.
I played Druid and Warrior back in actual Vanilla on US-Illidan, and have leveled a second warrior in TBC and a Shaman on private servers, as well as experimented with other classes at lower levels. I've settled on Warlock for a new challenge. It's a bit disappointing to see such a lack of representation of Warlocks in speedruns though, given their potential.
Here's my 3rd leveling attempt on a local repack. This is not optimized for 1-10, but rather 1-20. I didn't modify any behaviors to reach 10 faster than I would have if my goal was to go farther. I believe this could be sub 1h40m by changing a few things to prioritize hitting level 10, or could shave 5-10 mins in optimizations. But I was pretty happy with this time for a 3rd attempt. I'll push through to 20 as I have time.
Nice times from everyone! Particularly impressed with the sub 7:45 level 20 Horde Hunter, well done Massivechonk. Would love to hear about your route!
Promise to get everything updated as soon as I can.
Decided to do my first speedrunning attempt last night. Hit 10 rogue on Northdale (without frontstabbing) at 2h 25m:
I had a fair bit of competition for mobs, as it seems to be quite busy these days. Also messed up a few times, like ending up in sen'jin cemetery trying to bloodport to razor hill - then hearthstoning to valley of trials as I had forgot to set a new home.
Was fun! Will be doing more of these.
1-10 in 1h 35m 38s on Lights Hope Repack as a Paladin.
Still made a couple of mistakes, could probably trim a few extra minutes off it, but it was pretty close to optimal (for that route at any rate). Got a video uploaded, but it's still processing so it's not HD yet. When it's finished processing I'll edit this post to link it.
EDIT: here's the video.
Cool stuff Vemp! Really impressive time.
What is that swingtimer and UI?
Thanks kvmphvre ! The UI is SyncedUI which is an addon pack with customizations of pfUI and other addons, and I've made some tweaks of my own (updated the versions of some of the addons, added Questie). The swing timer is SP_SwingTimer but honestly Attack Bar timer is better because it can show enemy swing timers too. I'm considering swapping to that one, even though the SP_SwingTimer can be skinned to match my UI.

I picked the hairstyle with the two long pony tails just so I could watch them move in the wind while she casts
I'm just doing another run but at level 9, it's fallen apart. It was at least ten minutes faster than my best and then I made a stupid mistake. Hey ho!
Hmmmm...
I made a big mistake in my route, ending up with all these completed quests while I already dinged 10.
Do you guys force your route somewhat to ding 10 when turning in quests or how do I go at it efficiently?
Local repack btw
Well depends on class. As a hunter you want to hit exactly 10 as fast as possible, due to the huge benefit of a pet. But you should still put your self in a position which is advantages for further progress. Atleast that is my goal when going 1-10, 1-20 etc.

Leveling doesn't end at level 10 or 20,30,40, 50, etc. You shouldn't hinder your future progress by trying to get a nice /played screenshot. In my experience leveling in Classic can't be segmented, its the time to 60 that matters. Making screenshots every 10 levels servеs as a nice reference point, however if you're planing on running to 60 you need to look at the whole picture.
Xinergy to add to what others said, melee classes can upgrade weapons at vendors after reaching certain levels also. Just be aware of what you’re able to access at what points and plan your route around getting assets and putting them to use as quickly as possible.
E: Massivechonk curious about how much grinding was used and if you made the trip to Stonetalon before 20 or not?

Nice run, Vemp. What server was this on?
*Edit* Nevermind, I can't read. It's at the very top of the post.
Nice run, Vemp. What server was this on?
Broltania’s Light’s Hope repack (local server) by the look of his post. Welcome btw Warcrazy!
Jpy I grind on the way to quest objectives. And I Completed the Grim Totem Quest chain and escorted Kaya. You have a bunch of Quests to do in the Northwest Barrens anyway, might as well make the trip while you're close. Also, by the time you come back to Stonetalon you're 20+ so doing those early Quests at that point isn't worth it.

Thank you, sir. I was very pleased to find this place.
Massivechonk I was more concerned with contention for the mobs on the first quest (in my experience there’s been a lack of Rufian’s when doing Avenge My Village on Northdale, which creates the situation where your waiting for the respawns) and the escort quests ALWAYS had a long wait, making the trip up there even less rewarding. I’m thinking I’ll skip that chain of quests around 14-16 in Stonetalon altogether for launch because like you said by the time you’d be heading back that way you’re already too high level to warrant doing them. You can farm the 16-17 Bristleback on the way to TB to make sure you hit 16 and this also gives you extra cloth to hit 80 first aid for that first trip to TB.
E: You’ll probably take a hit to efficiency overall by skipping the escorts early but I don’t think they’ll be manageable for Classic launch so I don’t see a reason to incorporate things like that in my route. After 20 I should be ahead enough of the pack to start checking for escorts. Probably still skip if it’s in an area you can’t farm while waiting.
Jpy Those are some good points. However, that can be said for every other quest in game. As long as you know how much exp you need at a given point you can always just skip quests and make up for the loss by grinding.
I also have this feeling that we're most likely getting sharding at the start of Classic, so getting ahead of the curve shouldn't be as difficult as it has been during some of the private server launches.
