Not sure if what is being said was to be serious or just joking.
I think joking because no one in there right mind will believe current wow is ever going away.

It may take a dip in the following month or maybe on this week and next but eventually when new patches/expansions and/or sheer I am not a fan of classic, the retail people will head back and only play classic as a past time or not at all.

*Hogger invited you to join his party*

There just wasn't a lot to do outside of the raids

You mean there wasn't a lot to do outside of your garrison.

Yep agree, BFA is done.

Already behind FFXIV as a subscription game (I almost said mmorpg but it's really just a wow-themed arpg/shlooter/mobile abomination with a tiny sliver of raiding at the top)
Classic is going to be the coup de grâce for 8.x

But!
The beancounters at Activision will certainly hope that they are able to convert some portion of the huge surge in subs Classic will offer to the next expansion (9.x)
That is going to be the real battle and the outcome is not a foregone conclusion, so modern WoW might still have a chance.
They would certainly hope to draw part of the Classic crowd into the world of ARPU and mTX that modern wow is.
