Dude, the original SWG was fucking incredibly good. Me and my mates played it, and before it was turned into a Star Wars reskin of Everquest, it was the best MMO out. City of Heroes had the best coop fun, SWG had the best roleplaying elements. Housing in that game was fantastic.

I always heard that SWG had the best crafting system, I really enjoy the crafting part of MMOs and always regret a little bit that WoW derailed it in TBC. I always wanted to try the SWG one, never heard why it was so good.

Selexin I thought it was amazing too... especially as someone who enjoys PVP. The player cities/housing were excellent and the randomness of the weapon drops (i.e. nightsister lances with different poisons/fire dots) coupled with the quality of crafted weapons vs. cookie cutter weapons added an element of unpredictability to the game. I enjoyed it a lot.

daisyKutter The crafting in SWG was unlike anything I've ever seen. I'm sure Selexin PM'd you but for those who are reading, the thing that made it so unique was that the individual resources used in the crafting process could be low to high quality, which would impact the overall stats of the item being crafted. Crafters had to prospect for resources, take samples, and scour the world for high quality materials, after which they could set up mines/harvesters to extract the materials... they had to experiment with materials to see how the individual quality/statistics of the resource would impact the item being crafted... i.e increased durability, increased damage, etc. If it was armor, the resources would impact the resistances/damage mitigation. There was an art to crafting and it was possible for crafters to make a ton of coin in the game... and ultimately hugely influence PVP if they produced superior items. Even that explanation is probably inadequate to describe the complexity/importance of crafting in SWG but it's a start.

Cheers.

I started playing in May 05, and before that I was mostly playing stuff on consoles. Wind Waker, Twin Snakes, Call of Duty Finest Hour, and Ninja Gaiden are what I think I was most into back then.

I'll be honest I didn't really play many PC games until I met my partner at the time (who introduced me to WoW) and I was fairly young when Vanilla was out. So I was mostly on consoles playing games like... Pokemon, Final Fantasy, LoZ etc

Sorry I played Vanilla but I didnt start at the beginning, honestly don't remember when I started, probably beginning of 2005.

Before WOW was basically FPS in half-life/half-life 2 and the very popular game called Counter-Strike 1.6
Counter-Strike was WOW before WOW was WOW, WOW so many WOW's!

Other mods too that were fun from half-life was Day of Defeat!

Joined in MoP, when WoW came out I was only 5 years old so I wouldn't be able to play it very well.
I played ToonTown Online back when I was much younger, quite a while before I played WoW. Then I got into CoD during World at War and Black Ops.
Then I transferred over to PC, and eventually got into WoW

I started to play Guild Wars in 2005 and I started to play on Pserv when patch 2.3 was released, so for some time I played both games, and I switched to official servers at WOTLK release. I stopped playing GW short after GW:EN came out and I stick to WoW from that time, until Cata ruined world PvP.

WoW (I started just before TBC) was my first ever PC game, maybe apart from like Duke Nukem and Jazz Jackrabbit. I think at the time I would have been flat-out playing my PS2, probably Tony Hawks and GTA.

I started playing WoW a few months after TBC came out. Between 2004-2007 I was mostly playing Runescape, Diablo II, Unreal Tournament 2004, a Korean FPS game called Warrock, Pokemon on the GBA/DS, and Super Smash Bros. Melee on the Gamecube. Good times were had.

I was late to the Vanilla party, started in the fall of 2005 I think.

Before WoW there was WarCraft 3: TFT, before that there was Diablo2: LOD, before that there was SC2: BW. Next to that there was Counter Strike.

At least those were the big time spenders. Back then anything Blizzard made was golden, in my opinion.

Of course there was lot's of single player stuff to play in between, but I had a group of friends in school whom I always played these games together with. The nice thing is, gaming is one of the things that held our little group together. It's been 22 years since we all met, but we are still the best of friends and game together, right now we play some League of Legends for the fun of it. We are terrible at it these days but having a blast.
