It's been a little over a year and we're on the edge of tomorrow, in regard to Naxx.

How was everyone's Classic Experience thus far? Did you get together with your old crew? Did you get the item you really really wanted? Did you achieve that long lost goal?

I hope everyone has had a blast thus far. I appreciated and at times, even needed this classic ride.

I am enjoying it for sure. Got the full Tier 1 and Tier 2 set on my Hunter. Still in the same guild and are about to do Naxxramas.

I hope I can also get the full Tier 3, but seems it will be challenging since it works with a token system so I am rolling vs other classes and with TBC releasing relatively soon...

Seems there might not be enough weeks to get the full set. Which is a shame.

Also, as expected after all this time, getting a full raid roster is challenging.

Started Classic on launch, rolled on Herod server, spend first week getting to 60 as a warrior, went full prot with shield, got kicked from every dungeon cause I wasnt fury protting.
2nd week, found a guild, most of them were 60, did an ony, was fun, but my threat wasnt the best, then did an mc with this same guild, had a bad experience since most of them were friends, LC decided to funnel most of the items to a warrior level 59 who was gonna be their main tank. Tried to find another guild after that cause they put me 6 on loot prio, after being the one who tanked every boss that night.
Finding a guild in Herod was hard, most guilds who rolled there were all set up with friends and noone wanted a main tank.
Took a sad break for 3-4 months, I was feeling down, then decided to roll a new character on a new server, a new beginning. This time, Grobbulus was my new home, an RP PVP server, first time rolling on an RP server, I downloaded Total RP3, immediately write a background for my character, this time I was a Chaotic Neutral, a dark warlock killing alliance on sight, got to 60 first week with an amount of gold that got me surprised, 560g.
Started farming Pre BiS. Then someone was promoting in LFG "New Guild looking for everyone, we are a group of experienced players, etc."
I gave it a try and found my place, my home, my homies. I didn't think twice and server transfered my warrior here.
For the first time I experienced real wow raiding, a real guild. After a couple of months the guild broke up, we merge with other guilds but we are still in touch playing all together and now we are looking forward for Naxx and we are more than ready for TBC. This time, I'll be the main tank with a protection warrior.

Classic is a mediocre imitation of Vanilla, in my opinion. It would've been a lot better if they didn't make so many poor design choices. Off the top of my head:

  • Mega-Servers: Killed the close-knit community feeling of Vanilla WoW. Also made World PvP unbearable for the smaller faction.

  • Faction Imbalance: Made World PvP even worse in the pre-BG phase.

  • Free Transfers: Destroyed every server that was considered "imbalanced" by the playerbase. Created new servers that were even more imbalanced.

  • Cross-Server BGs: Also killed server communities. Cross-server BGs should've been added later, the same way it was in Vanilla.

  • 1.12 Talents, Content and Items: Made PvE content even easier, and it was already too easy to begin with.

  • The community in Classic is nothing like Vanilla and I think most of that is due to Blizzard's design choices. If we started with smaller servers, balanced factions and same-server BGs (for a while), it would've been an entirely different game.

Then they could've re-tuned PvE to be a little harder and it would've felt just like Vanilla.
