So purple lotus is dirt cheap at the moment, firebloom doesn't cost too much.
Both of these are used oils when ZG hits, caster and healer oil.
Would these be worth buying at the moment to then resale, or use to craft the oils and sell?
The oils are released during Phase 5, not Phase 4. There will likely be money to made if you actually craft and sell the oils themselves, I doubt Purple Lotus itself will suddenly skyrocket, as each oil has 5 charges.
There will be money to be made either way, just likely not as much if you stockpile just the herbs, as gold will be far less valuable that far ahead, nor do I think you'll be the only one on your realm stockpiling them.

Yeah I realized that crafting the oils would be best so that's what I'll do. I do expect some competiton, but so far I don't see anyone trying to buy them up.
Honestly I think they're too abundant to make them worthwhile. By the time we get there the population will shrink so it's good to take that into consideration as well.
