Yep, I forgot to include that one but it's the third on my list. It was quite an accomplishment as a Warrior when you finally got your hands on one, and when you're swinging it around before everyone is wearing epics it felt rather overpowered.
I mean especially when it's not even that people hadn't yet gotten into raids, but it's because so few people in general raided or intended to or knew what it was that made the Reaper so good.

Dathrohan was one of the first five paladins on Azeroth; this includes Uther the Lightbringer, General Turalyon, Gavin the Dire and Highlord Tirion Mograine. Being a paladin and knowing this lore, this weapon is technically a "paladin legendary", much like Hammer of the Lightbringer or the Ashbringer, not as powerful though. A nice weapon for roleplaying.

I love the Rod of the Ogre Magi from the DM North tribute chest.
I spent a long time as a mage gunning for the Azuresong Mageblade, especially before ZG released and the alternative Bloodcaller was available, but man did that sword just not want to drop. I maybe saw a single instance of it in months of raiding MC. All the while I was using the Inventor's Focal Sword from Maraudon.
While all of this was happening, we were hitting Dire Maul like crazy to try to get the Quel'Serrar book to drop for our MT, and I ended up wanting and getting the Rod of the Ogre Magi. This thing saw me all the way through MC in the end, as well as through all of BWL, ZG and most of AQ20.
In the end though, I actually did get my Mageblade...

There were so many items that stood out in vanilla. Many of which still remind me of a particular story connected to them.
Even though not technically a weapon: while farming my fire resistance gear I felt real hate for the first time as I rolled for https://classic.wowhead.com/item=12602/draconian-deflector and won!
I remember https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18805/core-hound-tooth dropping and my hunter friend was denied by the Council even though he bid max DKP. Big drama after that.
Mentioned this item a couple of times: https://classic.wowhead.com/item=18803/finkles-lava-dredger It took me ages to get it. It meant a lot to me. Don't think it was near BiS for resto shaman but I had a mountain of DKP waiting to be spent on this. I didn't even care about it being BiS or anything close to it. Not many people had it on my realm and I am sure it took at least 4 months for it to drop.
https://www.wowhead.com/item=18608/benediction I loved this item and I wasn't even playing a priest. I remember helping a good priest buddy with getting it by just putting down totems for him. Looked really weird seeing him get attacked and losing health but no enemies around.
I am sad that items in current WoW are not the memorable.

Haha! This was all quite entertaining to catch up on. @Dolamite and @Yori, our fellow priest enthusiast and friend on the forums, @William, was correct. Yeah, I passed on the Mageblade because I was raid leading on that day we were running it, and so I was in charge of loot council. And despite me being mage class leader, never missing a raid, and people telling me I should take the sword, I worried I'd look corrupt taking it. So I passed on it and the guy who got it quit a month later and I never saw it drop again. RIP
