I forgot how queuing for Battlegrounds work as a group.

Lets say a pre-made of 10 people, did all 10 people had to be near the battle master to accept the queue or can they be anywhere in the world and only one person in the group needed to talk to the battle master?

LFG has always been in the game in form of meeting stones and inns (according to the 1.12 clients). But I have never used them. Would hate to have an instant teleport to dungeon tool.

The meeting stones don't TP and merely try to put you in a group with people who also clicked the stone. They did not work very well at even doing that, and I personally never saw them ever get used.

I don't think they even asked you for a role. Maybe it was possible to get a 5 rogue group?

According to what you can read on WoWWiki from old Patch notes, Tanks and Healers could be specified.

Very interesting! Even so, I still wouldn't use it, but if people chose to there's nothing wrong with keeping it in. You had to walk down to the instance to use it and received no 5% bonus for using it. It merely eliminated the [4. LookingForGroup] chat.

You are quite right, I don't think I would use it either. Why is that? I do use LFG on the rare occasions I play retail.
I guess it's an all-or-nothing kind of deal. Either give me the full package or let me look for my own damn group :)

The battleground system was flawed, as evidenced by faction imbalances. Crossrealm battlegrounds will resemble battlegrounds from retail. I think it is ultimately unhealthy for the game. There were many options like server transfers that could be used. Crossrealm battlegrounds did so much harm to server community, and isolated players from eachother on their server. This is exactly what WoW degraded into with the expansions.

Yeah I wish they didnt keep/add the crossrealm battlegrounds because of what people above are saying about community.
I remember when you get into a battleground to see people you have ganked or was ganked by in the world!

It was always awesome to see that one amazing shadow priest you saw in the world rapping people and now your about to face them or play aside him.

It's always awesome to have rivals.
I remember in our realm we were always seeking out this Horde guild called 'Band of Brothers', I remember they would attack our whole raid and we would do the same. Seeing them and targeting them in BGs was fun!

But with crossrealm you will be, who is Billy (from Lightning's Blade)? Is he good, is he bad, is he a robot, I dont know that guild...

I prefer to control my group compositions and prevent too much overlap in gear needs. Can't really see the SFK meeting stone knowing that I'd really like a decurser and I'd prefer it was a Mage. But maybe the other group would prefer it be a Druid!

The LFG tool came after the elimination of gear by way of heirlooms too, and also after the elimination of difficulty too if I recall.

Exactly. Crossrealm battlegrounds are like a different game, one that is similar to retail WoW. It is Blizzard's fault for putting the fastest honor gains in BGs. No wonder players want instant queues. It is shortsighred and will hurt Classic a lot in the long run.

Most players returning to Classic remember Battlegrounds for that specific reason. The community. It wasn't the outcome of the matches that you remember, but the familiar players you played alongside. This is really unfortunate. Batlegrounds were not crossrealm for most of Classic. Players will soon figure out that 1.12 battlegrounds are a lot like Retail.

Big plus for crossrealm BGs is that they help on the problem with queue snipers avoiding other premades so they can rank faster

Fact

Firstly, Cross-Realm Battleground PvP (Battlegroups) were introduced in patch 1.12, so there is no argument that it doesn't belong where it is put.

RedridgeGnoll pretty much this ^

Was it in 1.12? It should be in Classic. Was it not in 1.12? It should not be in Classic.

If you want to play in your own world with dungeon and raid finder then there are plenty of private servers for you out there with this kind of custom functionality.

EDIT: Holy shit I accidentally merged this with the guild recruitment thread lol. Had to remake your title RG, sorry if it's different to the original (you can change it).

Oh I know. 1.12 is 1.12 and that is what we're getting. I do think they should be delayed until Naxxramas like they were in Classic. Blizzard is using a custom release schedule, so I think crossrealm bgs should be a part of that. I am hoping for the best, besides I'm more of a phase 2 type of guy. Love the site btw!

In my opinion, Blizzard opened a can of worms when they decided to only implement part of 1.12.1. It proved that the later patch content was subjective to if it was truly vanilla or not.
