Possibly some bad news to those waiting, including myself.

Just saw that. I got into the stress test, but looks like I won't make it for the beta. Very sad.

Cletus - We're boned! :( Guess 15 years in this game doesn't qualify us to re-evaluate how it all began.

November 2004 sub/account start. Bought and played every xpac. Bought a WoW classic demo in addition to my last virtual ticket. Countless other purchased through blizzard. No beta or stress test invite.

I always here this same sentiment echoed, and its unfortunate... I wonder if its entirely random or is there any evidence that they prioritize accounts based on their activation date? Based on my friends / acquaintances that got invites it seems entirely random.

Maybe they dont think its such a big deal if u play beta or not, because you have all the rights to enjoy the game postrelease in just a couple of months. I feel like they dont think beta invites are a way to "honor" players. Its just a beta afterall, you get the full game experience when its due.

For me, it's not about being "honored". Its about being allowed to help them refine the game so it can be the best game possible based on all the bugs and issues I remember from Vanilla. Getting into the game to test these and other things is what I want. What irritates me is not being able to do this and instead having to watch dozens of streamers who never played vanilla do things like collect herbs and duel rather than search out known/potential exploits.

Kind of sad, but also OK with this.
Haven't played at all since MoP, and since I finally bought a gaming laptop I recently resubbed and been playing on a fresh account (no heirlooms ;D). I can see how the leveling process has changed on retail servers, and compare that when I join to Classic. I'm just level 20 now, so I reckon I'll find lots of content between levels 21 to 120. That should keep me busy until Classic.

That is sad. Have a account since WC3 and Played WoW on the second Wave 1 Month after Release.

I'm rather sure that it also has something to do with what you have achieved in-game. The few times I have gotten gladiator I also happened to get invited into the alpha of the next expansion. But the expansions where I hadn't done anything I didn't get anything. So I strongly believe that achieving something great in-game also makes you more of an priority for alpha/beta's.

Ohhh man... I really wanted to play the beta. Just to be able to enjoy a different ride that is going to be release. But well, not everyone can go into the beta, so we will have to wait...

I feel so conflicted about this. In one hand, I feel sad I did not get invited, on the other, it's fine since even if I was invited, I would barely level since I am saving all that for the actual release.

Also sucks that my original account (started in June '05) is banned and my newer account is the one with a active sub, else I might have gotten in as well because of the age of my original account.

Oh well, I at least have stress test access today and managed to set up my user interface and settings so that come launch, I don't have to do that.

Even now the zone was pretty crowded so I think on launch day I will walk my night elf to Stormwind, farm some copper and level my fishing in the first few hours while I wait for the started zones to cool down in population.

Well, I can imagine Blizz wants to give access not only to vanilla veterans but also to streamers, clueless kids and other people who never experienced vanilla firsthand. After all the Classic to be commercial success should attract more than just a subset of old vanilla players. Hence it requires to reach out and appeal to fresh population that never experienced it.

I think it's narrow minded to say that. Some of these wow streamers have dedicated their entire life to playing wow. Sure some of them are sellouts or got a toxic community behind their back. But we seriously need to give them credit for what they have accomplished. A lot of them also played in vanilla just like you I assume.

I see so many people hating on streamers the weirdest reason. And it just doesn't make sense that someone who have streamed wow for so many years shouldn't be higher on the beta list than people who played the game in vanilla and then quit.

That's just my opinion at least.

Sadly I didn't get in either. But look at the bright side, I will have a fresh experience on 27th August!

I do not say streamers are bad. Majority of them can be experienced players and well-deserving beta access. What I meant is that giving access also to streamers or whatnots with no prior vanilla experience is IMO fully intentional by Blizzard. They want feedback from different angles and also to expose beta to as many online/gaming communities as possible.

On the one hand this news makes me a but sad, because I’ve lost interest in retail since the release date was announced.
Can’t bring myself to enjoy it anymore because I’m just too excited for classic and have only logged in for an hour total since then, but now I’m just sitting around being bored.
But then again I feel that the wait will be worth it and I probably would enjoy leveling to 30 again less if I were to have done it already in beta.

I'm disappointed since I can't even set up my UI for when the full game releases. This is a major setback to anyone attempting to do a speedrun.

Not having some kind of "basically open beta" like they do with expansions really surprises me.

Something like this might be the least of their concern mate. Didnt they say no addons at release or have I misunderstood?
