I'm not familiar with Method doing the shitposting, but if it encourages people to do it back then I guess kudos for them for tricking people into giving free promotion.

Why do you identify with "private server kids" as if you personally accomplished anything?

Because i've played with almost everyone in the guild Apes at one point in time. Been apart of the vanilla private server community for roughly 9 years and have been apart of many speed runs like this. They're reppin our banner.

Method came over from retail all cocky and indirectly saying (via their attitude and general cokcy-ness) that classic was easy and since they are a super duper retail mythic raiding guild, world first 60 and world first MC clear would be a sinch. While the wow community that cant stand retail keeps saying classic is not only better, its harder and will be more opopular, a lot of the current retail people say no way to both. This kinda just puts clout behind the vanilla-for-lifers that classic is harder/better, and you can't just roll over from retail in your spare time and expect to set the records.

I just enjoy dunking on retail esport guilds. I personally do not like the retail community. There's been times where they've witchhunted private server players to get them banned and spotlighted private servers to try and get them sued/removed. So I took pleasure when their "team" failed.

I dunno. I'm just not convinced they really "failed." They got loads of promotion, had some sponsorship deals, and yeah. Like yeah they didn't do it first, but that's just because other people leveled faster and it was pretty clear by day two that they weren't going to be able to keep up. Half the method players at the event just leveled pretty chill after the first day. I dunno. I just feel like there's a lot of unreasonable angst.

A couple things....

Nothing really concrete is said by anyone here. Just what "communities" say and that is entirely dependent on who you encounter and how many. None of that will ever be representative of a larger group.

Additionally, I don't know or care about the cockiness. But they're not wrong to think that MC is easy. I mean the guild who did get world first said as much, and said the only reason they got it was they new how to level faster. It's not like vanilla was too hard for Method. They just didn't know all the strats to level fastest. Big whoop. Like I just don't understand how people get so much joy from this. Like yeah, Method didn't level fast enough. Whatever. I saw the news, said "Oh, cool." and tabbed back into WoW.

I can't imagine there are that many people who are super compelled to include themselves in that "we" or have much skin in the game at all in this whole fiasco. I've been part of the vanilla private server community since 2011, and by now you know my reaction.

seriously they downed rag already? thats mental lol i thought you needed to have like some kind of reputation done to be able to get in the raid and do it? and a whole load of fire resist gear too? that blows my mind how they coordinated so many people to get this done so fast and im sitting over here with my 2 sub-level-20 characters thinking im progressing pretty okay LMAO

For those of us who raided seriously on retail vanilla and have played private, we seen this as a possibility (probability). This is why we have been saying as much for months. That is NOT to say that this was easy or even predictable, this was nothing short of amazing and with the shaky launch, I am shocked that they were still able to pull this off. However, completing MC within a week is achievable (clearly) and inside two weeks is VERY achievable as was known by anyone in the hardcore raiding scene. Private is and always will be the hardest variation of Classic. I am super happy that I got to experience private and for those of us who did, we understand how massive the nerf to difficulty is while entering Classic, especially in raids as private was intentionally tuned to be more challenging. For all the hate pservers get, I am happy that these guys were validated. Though the selfish part of me is very disappointed and wishes that Classic was tuned to be relevant for modern standards so that we could relive that authentic difficulty that we faced in retail vanilla. My hats off to APES, I had figured these guys or Method would be getting the world first. While APES has far more applicable experience, I thought that the support network for Method may edge them out given how insanely powerful early consumable stacking can be for a raid team.

All in all, very huge accomplishment for APES and a huge validation for private servers and the content that was completed on private and the players that completed it. I have PvP'd against APES many times and the guys are savages.
