Dodging streamer servers

I'll watch some esfand for sure leading up to and during classic, I can handle staysafe too, and I can put up with asmon in short bursts. I'll avoid the servers they're on (easy for me since I'm Oceanic anyway) as the servers they're on will be horrible.

I've got plenty of time for esfand, although twitch chat is so spammy when you get to those sort of viewer numbers it's better to hide it. I'll probably watch more Kevin Jordan streams as he is an original class developer from vanilla and is super chill with a small amount of viewers. Very laidback and knowledgeable guy.

In Sodapoppin's defense, he has changed quite a lot over the years, and is more mature overall. That clip is over 3 years old.

Otherwise, I agree, and I will too try my best to avoid joining a server who has a popular streamer. Luckily, however, is that I'm in EU. The big streamers are all NA, and I won't be playing on NA servers.

Since I intend to play on a PvE server I would imagine it not being a big deal for me. I don't watch streamers and I could care less for them, I'll just enjoy the game anyway with or without a streamer being on the server I'm playing on.

Fully agreed, he has changed alot this years.
However his viewers is kinda same, could see them as the main problem.

Perhaps RP servers will be free of streamers. That would certainly be a good argument to get RPPvP servers in at launch.

Iirc, Esfand RPs, so even a RPPVP server wouldn't be safe. Although, admittedly, he's not even close to the worst streamer you could have on a server.

Watching a bit stream yesterday to see what's what, he was stating that by chosing your name early, you chose your server at the same moment aswell.

If he's true, then dodging big streamers and the flow of fanatic followers will be easy.

I saw yesterday some famous streamer got between 20k to 70k viewers while streaming WoW Classic beta. At this rate, you don't even want to play on a streamer reroll server
Good for me I'll be playing in EU server and most likely French servers. Here streamers have around 200 to 3K viewers, and I don't think they'll stay on Classic very long. Yet, I'll still avoid their servers !

Streamers do have an effect on any server they play on. This has nothing to do with PvP only.

I agree, but the thing which would by far bother me the most are the "fun" world PvP events these players introduce to servers. Since you have to willingly enable PvP on a PvE server this is mostly not an inviting server type for these type of events thus making it less likely for it to happen. But you'll never know for certain of course.

Wait, could someone summarize what "streamer servers" are? Never heard the term, and I don't really know how a few streamers could ruin a server. Do people really talk about streamers all the time on those servers?

Essentially a server in which a particularly popular streamer plays, sometimes multiple popular streamers in a guild etc.

Definition of 'ruin' is subjective in this sense, but they can use their viewers to effectively have a private army, exert control over or gain resources freely etc. In counter to this other people may do 'stupid' or 'troll' things to the streamer or their followers in order to end up on stream. Furthermore the streamers followers place additional pressure on those involved in any interaction/altercation etc. The streamers take up a lot of the energy of the server I guess. This may or may not be to your taste.

A streamer server is a server on which one or more big streamers play. A big streamer is a person that got a huge amount of followers, that probably will also join/play on the server of the streamer. This can result in a lot of problems/behavior that were not present in vanilla wow or is simply not wanted by normal players/fans of classic wow. Some examples/ideas below:

Technical
- long queue times.
- server/zone instability once layering is disabled.

Behavior
- possible faction inbalance
- if that streamer decides to quit wow, a lot of his followers will probably quit too. This can result in a abandoned server
- if the streamer shows/mentions that he did not like you or your actions, a lot of his followers will make you suffer
- even more trash-talk in the public channels
- and a lot more

Ok, thanks guys. I agree with you then - seems like something to work against. Don't people have anything better to do nowadays than to follow a streamers every wish? Man, bring me back to Warcraftmovies and 144p youtube.

Imagine the general chat or maybe world chat (not sure if that will be a thing in classic) basically becommimg a twitch chat on a server with a big streamer on it.

POGCHAMP, MONKAS, OMEGALUL, FEELSBADMAN

Just flowing on your screen, everyday. I for sure don't want to be a part of that server. It will also most likely be filled with a type of kids you propably don't want to play with..

I would be in favor of that or making “streamer only” servers. Getting caught streaming outside of a designated server would result in an account ban.

It’s to the point that the cult followings are taking away from regular people’s experiences. If they want to stream, go on the designated stream server. If they want to play a non stream server, turn the stream off.

Streaming was a mistake.

I'm guessing this'll happen to NA servers though? EU will be kinda safe?
