The state of hunters at the time of the poll: Here
At the time of this poll the Class Choice Thread had 555 votes for hunter - a number prior to the big drama about "your class is not bugged".
The "Yes" choices were separated into both PvE and PvP options because I felt that some of the "not bugs" would hardly affect PvE only hunters, though I am sure there are PvE server hunters that wanted a few battlegrounds too.
Interested to hear everyone's thoughts either way, whether it's your reason for not rerolling or if it's about what drew you to choosing the new class over hunter.
NOTE: If your main wasn't going to be a hunter anyway just choose the 2nd option.
Edit: I added the blank vote, but for some reason it did not reset the poll. Instead it kept all places the same, so I had to remove the PvE server votes and switch to blank (there were too many options to simply add another). There were 5 stay votes inside PvE at the time so barring those people not re-voting just factor them into the "Yes I am staying" vote.
Should've made a "blank" vote so us "non hunter mains" can see poll result
Where's the "Yes: *insert non-Hunter class*" option?
Where's the "Yes: *insert non-Hunter class*" option?
Not sure I follow, Nymis?

Anything but hunter is a good selection.
The votes aren't locked + I am out of slots for options so it's fine if someone marks what they are thinking about rolling now and come back to change their selection later.
I am specifically interested in what they are thinking about rolling even if they are undecided (top pick). A "Yes: Undecided" option would probably get most of the votes and not provide enough interesting info.
For instance the only class with healing that has been picked so far is Druid. Likely because it has a lot of the "do it yourself solo stuff" vibe that some liked about Hunter, but Priest, Paladin, and Shaman aren't getting picked. This leads me to believe those Druids are feral and not heal specced.
It won't be my main, but I wasn't planning on a hunter being my main in the first place. It will be my 1st or 2nd alt, though.
Honorable mention for Teebling who got off this boat before it even started sinking.

I stayed on that boat until it hit the bottom of the sea...
This just reinforces the value of having played on private I guess. I'll hold those hunter memories close to my heart! Glad I got to experience playing hunter when it was a king. I've come to terms with putting the class to rest and moving on.
Out of respect, I will likely keep hunter as my chosen class until Classic, just in case... please? maybe? it might work out?... no. No. I'm just being unreasonable.

Private was especially nice that with the constant "FRESH" other people gladly rerolled to make Hunters king again over and over.

I wasn't really sure what you were asking.
So basically, you're asking people who wanted to main Hunter whether or not they will keep maining hunter on a PvP or a PvE server or whether they've switched to another class. I didn't quite get it the first time around so I thought you were asking if people who were rolling other classes were interested in rerolling or something.
It's been pretty steady that roughly 2/3rds of voting hunters are rerolling. Of course, there are going to be people out there who have no idea what happened to hunters and roll one on release anyway so I am not expecting those in the know to make too much of a dent. There will be hunters for raids at least.
I had a hunter alt back in the day and I will definitely have another. He was my herb/ore farmer. Pretty sure he can still do those things ;)
So you guys are saying that I should probably re-consider maining a hunter for Classic and choose another class instead?
Was it really that terrible during the beta test? I've read some negative comments here and there but didn't realize it was THAT bad...
For me Hunter is the ultimate class for enjoying WoW, taking it easy and exploring the world.
Even if hunter starts out bugged, they will eventually fix it. I wouldn't change my mind for such reasons.

Not at all! I almost rolled hunter despite the "not bugs" and the bugs.
Personally, I already had a few beefs with hunter (poor scaling late game, no spell interrupt), so when I saw the reports it wasn't so much as a "they broke hunter!" reaction but a realization that, though I was very attached to hunter, perhaps there was a class out there that would be better for me (and I had a class in mind too, it wasn't random).
As for the other hunter mains, I think a lot of them are going to stick with the class and try to make it work even if they are mightily upset about the situation.
The pet and trap responsiveness issues are massive to me. Got a very nice gaming rig, very good screen, keyboard, mouse, everything to be able to have fast responses. And then they bug pets to be slow when reacting to commands and traps to not proc when people move over them at the right moment. Shit like that is going to piss me off so much in the long run it'll be better to roll some other class and perhaps make a Hunter alt once these issues get fixed. Or not at all if they don't.
Oh and the melee weaving bug really sucks.
Ever since the removal of hunters from Classic I have been hanging out a ton on the hunter classic discord and HOLY hell is it a depressing atmosphere... Imagine a place where I am the local ray of sunshine... Things are bad in hunter town.
But they still know how to laugh. These are two of my favorites:
The discord is absolutely FILLED with great info dismissing many of the "blizzlike" changes that have been made to hunters. Namely the argument that shared DR's are blizzlike, which is only half of the story. Yes, they were shared during vanilla, however they were not shared for 9 major patches in vanilla and were only shared for 3 patches at the end of vanilla which was then completely revised and was described as not working as intended within BC. We arent talking about a small debuff. We are talking about taking a class from a competitive bracket and ruining it with shared DR's. This isnt to mention all of the other stuff that is awful for hunters..
This class is still going to be strong at leveling and is still viable for a casual player. For the guys who want to PvP competitively and play at the top, this class is dead. There would need to be a MASSIVE overhaul. They have SO many issues, that they couldnt possibly address all of them before release - heres hoping though.
Recent census poles are showing hunter as low as 9.2%. Their retention rate throughout the beta fell off considerably. This isnt a knee-jerk reaction, they are just in an awful state.
