More druids than rogues? What the hell 😲
We're rogues that can heal, tank and cast spells.... Why not?!
But....I must say Stoneform is OP. I never realized how good it was until I put on the Deviate Delight costume and then rogues were trying to blind me all the time because they didn't realize I was a dwarf. Much, MUCH, bigger difference than Fear Ward could ever make in PvP. It's always up because a lot of rogues will turn around and blind someone else and not you.
You have missed out on Stoneform which is also very good in pvp besides Desperate Prayer. Ability to get rid of poisons and bleeds is pretty good for a priest in PVP.
I tried to bold it to draw attention to it, but it appears that being tacked on as the final paragraph was too much.
Fear Ward is a ridiculous 30 second CD in Vanilla. If you time it correctly there’s no reason for it to be purged before being used. Stoneform breaks Blind in Vanilla.
Human is fine but let’s not try to act like Dwarf isn’t superior for PvP.
I thought the same about fear ward until I played it. It did help against warriors since they have a 3 min cd and cannot purge, but it was not nearly as stellar as I thought it would be. Maybe there were too many good pvpers on the private servers for it to work right? That giant cast animation doesn’t help either.
Low population of both Shaman and Paladin on this poll. I wonder if that'll reflect in-game for these two faction specific classes.
William Remember that pala and shaman are faction restricted meanwhile other classes can be both factions meanung there will be more of them overall.

It's a fairly low sample size so far, would be very surprised if we don't se a huge surge of rogues.

I think both Shaman and Paladin populations will be low, as they actually are the least played classes according to the data from the light's hope servers which can be seen here: https://lightshope.org/stats
So they are, with Druids only slightly ahead.
Makes sense then. I guess the biggest difference will be those who don't play private servers and just come back and roll a character for the fun of it.
@William Remember that pala and shaman are faction restricted meanwhile other classes can be both factions meanung there will be more of them overall.
Combine this with them both being seen as healers (a traditionally under played role) but not the healer (priest) and it's no surprise that they'd be underplayed.
With the stats from Light's Hope I'm actually surprised at how much Mage is trailing behind Rogue, Warlock, and Druid.
Hi guys, pretty typical question but with a Poll to help collate the information in one easy to read location. This poll is not for your alts or anything like that, this is for your main character that you will be focusing on as we head toward level 60 and beyond.
The poll does not allow for more options other than a short list, so I can't expand it to have specs/roles. @teebling Sticky?
Cheers, Selexin
I second the motion for sticky
Anyone else surprised with so many druids?
Anyone else surprised with so many druids?
Yes actually, and I would be surprised if this is reflected on live servers. I love druids though so I'm down with it.
This is a relatively small sample size, but if we can keep this post near the top of the forums hopefully everyone votes.
Yeah I'm a little surprise at the result.
And maybe I will play Pala tank in second class. Maybe the population gonna be more open to class that are not "top tier" :)
To complete, here's bellow 2 polls from a year ago on reddit.
But if they are all like me they will change their mind 3 time a day....

I'd originally picked Warlock on this poll, despite maining a Mage throughout Vanilla and TBC. I saw the results and it seems like Warlocks and Warriors are the most popular in this poll (bearing in mind the sample size).
I'm a dingus for over-analysing, so please take everything I say with a pinch of salt here! There was a question asked in a similar poll on the r/classicwow subreddit a few months ago, and the results were as follows:
Since the time of Vanilla, there has been a ton of theorycrafting and the consensus is that Warriors have the potential to do do the highest raid DPS, as well as being able to tank, something that is difficult outside of farmed content for any other class. This means the high numbers for Warriors are to be expected, but what about Warlocks (4th overall in that dataset, behind Warriors, Mages and Priests)?
Warlocks were an oddball class in Vanilla itself, providing potentially great spell DPS (albeit inconsistent compared to Mages), along with immense utility. We certainly had Warlocks in our guild, and brought them on raids because it felt wrong not to (also our guild leader was a Warlock!) as much as for any quantifiable benefit. Healthstones were useful, and in Molten Core we used Warlocks on Garr as opposed to more tanks. Later on in AQ40 you needed a good Warlock for the Twin Emperors.
I wonder if the popularity of Warlocks in Classic is due to this oddball/'special snowflake' nature, a class that wasn't really understood at the time that's viewed as eclectic? I don't mind in any case, I'll be playing Warlock honestly because I value their sustain during levelling and the ability to solo play due to the pets, as the me of now is different to the me of 2004 and I can't commit the time I used to to the game, so want to maximise what I get out of each session.
It's interesting how the stats for these 2 polls differ apart from the top pick though, possibly the same size is a factor but also the types of players that come to Barrens.chat vs r/classicwow?
Do you have the number behind the percent of your poll on r/classicwow ?
Can be interesting :)
Warlock was good, but many guild used them only for healthstone / teleportation / debuff.
The most played class was indeed Warrior, then priest then it was depending of the server Rogue or Mage.
But it's gonna be interesting to see all the BFA player who gonna download Classic with the Hype and play on it when they wait for their raid night on BFA or whatever reason...
I think a lot of people who never touch vanilla gonna play the same class they play on BFA to see what it was before.
So with the help of warcraftrealms.Com (an old site that's seems alive I used a lot on BC).

Thought I was going to go Rogue, as I did back in the day, but after playing a Priest for a bit 'elsewhere' I've decided that's the one for me. Leveling is just so smooth, if a little slow pre-40, and getting into groups is a breeze
As long as you enjoy the playstyle, it is the right class for you.
I chose Warlock. Still trying to decide however. Right now it's between Warlock or Shaman. And maybe Hunter...
Total votes: 154
Getting a better idea of the mix of this particular community. It is very interesting to see the split.
Priest/Mage seem low
Druid/Hunter seems high
I wonder how the retail classic WoW class distribution will differ from Private Server Scene. Probably less min-maxing on retail classic - more 'noobs' will be playing on retail, since some effort/dedication is required to seek out and join a pserver.

A lot of people start warlocks, but not as many get to 60, at least on PvP servers. On PvE they get played as a shadow mage in raids, but their PvP play style is very different and not actually what a lot of players want once they realize what it is. Then they quit and choose a different class.
People know they’re good, but when push comes to shove a lot don’t actually want to play them.
Or they level them to 20 just to use them for summoning
